Porcelain VeneersPorcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers What: Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are bonded onto the front side of teeth to create a cosmetic improvement for a tooth.

Why: Porcelain veneers are routinely used as a way to make cosmetic changes for discolored, worn, chipped, or misaligned teeth. A straighter, whiter, fuller smile is possible without braces and usually in just two visits.

How: Porcelain veneer technique is an offshoot of the basic science of cosmetic dental bonding. It uses the bonding capability of materials that can create a tenacious bond with tooth enamel to securely attach a thin shell of porcelain to a tooth. Although porcelain is inherently brittle, when it is firmly bonded to a sturdy substructure like a tooth, it becomes very strong and durable.

Benefits/Challenges: Porcelain veneers are lifelike in strength, beauty and function, and they resist staining.

Contouring & BondingContouring & Bonding   Back to Top
Contouring & Bonding What: Contouring is making very minor changes to the shape of teeth, which can also make improvements to your smile. Bonding describes the process of attaching dental fillings and materials to the enamel and dentine of teeth on a microscopic level.

Why: If the color of your teeth is satisfactory, but there is some slight irregularity in shape, contouring and bonding can be used to make subtle changes that make a significant difference to the way light reflects off the surface of the teeth and how straight they appear. Changes can be made to teeth that are slightly turned or have irregular biting edges, chips can be repaired, and spaces can be closed between front teeth.

How: Most people associate bonding with the process of placing white filling material on the front of teeth to make cosmetic changes. A thin layer or veneer of filling material is applied to the front of the teeth to change their size, shape and/or color. This can be done in one appointment and typically without any anesthetic.

Benefits/Challenges: The end result can be extremely dramatic, but since filling material is not as strong as enamel and because it is designed to fit into a hole or cavity, it’s more likely to chip or break. In addition, over time the material will stain. Bonding usually needs to be replaced after approximately seven to ten years.
Dental ImplantsDental Implants   Back to Top
Dental Implants What: Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed into your jaw to hold replacement teeth. Implant technology offers a permanent tooth replacement solution and Dr. Aghaloo provides complete implant services in an in-office dental implant center. He can correct or re-do implants done elsewhere and offer second opinions for those considering teeth implants.

Why: Implants are suggested in cases when the patient does not want to use a bridge to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Implant dentistry results in teeth that look and feel much more like natural teeth than dentures.

How: Screws, cylinders or blades are surgically placed into the jawbone. Each holds one or more prosthetic teeth. The entire process can take from months to more than a year, depending on your bone density.

Benefits/Challenges: Dental implants look and feel so natural that you may forget you ever lost a tooth. You’ll be able to smile, speak and eat with comfort and confidence. Under proper conditions, which include diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants, although there are patients who will not be suitable candidates for this procedure.
Invisalign® BracesInvisalign® Braces   Back to Top
Invisalign® Braces What: Invisalign® straightens your teeth with a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-molded aligners.

Why: No more metal mouth. Invisalign® straightens teeth in a subtler manner than traditional braces.

How: You’ll be fitted for a series of custom-molded aligners, which you will change every two weeks. Dr. Aghaloo will check your progress every six to eight weeks for about a year, which is the average duration for an Invisalign® course of treatment.

Benefits/Challenges: Not everyone will be a candidate for Invisalign®. For those who are, this technology represents a quick, comfortable and unobtrusive way to straighter teeth.
WhiteningWhitening   Back to Top
Whitening What: Zoom technology is used to whiten your teeth far better than any over-the-counter treatment.

Why: Who doesn’t want a whiter smile? Years of "tooth abuse" from smoking and coffee can be erased, your mouth will look younger, and your smile will be more vibrant.

How: Dr. Aghaloo uses Zoom technology, the most researched and scientifically proven way to whiten teeth in the shortest time and by the greatest number of shades. In little more than an hour, your teeth will be far whiter than ever.

Benefits/Challenges: Since teeth age, touch-up treatments are needed to keep your pearly whites their whitest.
White FillingsWhite Fillings   Back to Top
White Fillings What: White fillings are the modern, non-metal, healthier alternative to silver mercury fillings, the old standard.

Why: In addition to being more appealing from a cosmetic standpoint, white fillings also benefit patients because minimal removal of the tooth structure is needed to use them. (Metal fillings need more space to be "plugged in.")

How: White fillings (composite resin restorations) are molecularly bonded, creating a fusion of nature and advanced material.

Benefits/Challenges: Dr. Aghaloo can arrange a schedule to replace any metal fillings you may have in your teeth with white fillings. Over the years, metal fillings will wear down, and they may eventually seep into teeth, creating a health hazard.
